#7 Procrastination Is Not Bad — MA Maegan Megginson Sex Therapist
“We're conditioned to be productivity robots”
-Maegan Megginson
Why It Feels So Bad To Procrastinate?
It starts in elementary school. We're taught that self-sufficiency and hard work are the ultimate signs of success.
This creates a bunch of stressed out adults who beat themselves up for not doing every single thing that needs to get done to move our business and life forward.
The False Shame In Procrastination
Until recently, I felt a lot of shame and stress whenever I procrastinated.
Shame because I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be doing.
Stress because I knew the thing was there just waiting for my time and attention. Uugghhh.
What Procrastination Says About You
Then I started reframing procrastination as an indicator that the task needs to be done by SOMEONE ELSE!
It doesn't say anything bad about me as a person and it doesn't need to hang over me like a cloud of doom for the next three months...
I just need to find the right person (or software) to do the task for me!
Why Love Your Procrastinating Self
Or I need to reevaluate if it's a thing I want to continue doing.
Why I no longer believe I have to do work I don't enjoy doing. My procrastinating habits help me see exactly what I don't enjoy doing.
So basically, procrastination is a helpful tool in my business toolkit.
I now love my procrastinating self!
Food For Thought
What would be different in your life if you started embracing procrastination and committed to asking for help?
