#105 How To Unblock Pleasure — Chen Agron
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to lose touch with the simple pleasures of life like movement. We're constantly bombarded with stimuli that demand our attention, leaving little room for genuine self-expression and the joy of living in the moment. However, Chen Agron, a renowned dance artist, choreographer, and dog trainer from Tel Aviv, offers a refreshing perspective on reconnecting with our bodies and unblocking the pathways to pleasure through movement.
Here, episode #104 of The Sensual Sessions podcast brings you this guide with revolutionary tips gleaned from Chen's insights during a soul-stirring conversation.
How to Unblock Your Body's Pleasure Through Movement
Pleasure, as Chen points out, is a fundamental aspect of living fully. It's about returning to the instinctual pleasures of the body, reminiscent of the unjudged experiences of childhood. By engaging with our senses and allowing ourselves to feel pleasure without the overlay of judgment, we unlock a more vibrant, alive version of ourselves.
To connect with your body's pleasure through movement, start by allowing yourself to move freely, without judgment or preconceived notions. Engage in activities like dance or gentle stretching, focusing on the sensations that arise, rather than striving for perfect form or technique. Explore folding and unfolding the joints, allowing the body to move freely like a sea sponge in the ocean. This approach turns movement into an exploration of pleasure, away from the monotony of repetitive exercise.
How to Use Movement to Overcome Pain and Discomfort
Agron discusses how, in moments of physical pain or discomfort, our minds can amplify the negative sensations. Instead of succumbing to fear or anxiety, she recommends focusing on the sensation itself and being open to its transformation over time. Gentle, mindful movement can help redirect your focus from pain to pleasure, aiding in the healing process. This approach requires a mindfulness that is often lost in our fear-driven reactions to injury, reminding us that healing is as much a mental endeavor as it is physical.
How to Embrace Silliness and Shed Shame in Movement
One barrier to experiencing pleasure in movement is self-consciousness or shame. Agron suggests adopting a playful, childlike approach to movement, where silliness and awkwardness are not just accepted but embraced. By allowing yourself to be 'weird' or 'silly,' you can break through inhibitions and connect more deeply with the pleasure of moving your body.
How to Find Flow and Release Tension Through Movement
Agron advocates for the concept of 'flow' in movement— a state where motion is smooth, continuous, and pleasurable. To find your flow, start with movements that have a clear form, such as waves of the arm, and gradually let go of tension in the spine and shoulders. This practice can release physical and emotional blockages, enhancing the sense of pleasure and freedom in movement.
How to Incorporate Movement into Your Daily Routine for Enhanced Pleasure
Integrating movement into your daily life can increase your overall sense of well-being and pleasure. Agron encourages finding moments throughout the day to stretch, dance, or simply be mindful of your body's movements. Whether it's a few minutes of dancing in your living room or taking a mindful walk, these practices can help you stay connected to the pleasure of movement.
In conclusion, embracing the pleasure of movement is about more than just physical exercise; it's a pathway to connecting with our bodies on a profound level. By following Chen Agron's advice, you can explore new dimensions of sensual pleasure and freedom in your movement practices.
